Bangalore. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has given new information related to Chandrayaan-3 mission on Tuesday. India’s Moon ( Moon) Mission has discovered oxygen and sulfur on the Moon. The space agency said that the mission of rover ‘Pragyan’ on the lunar surface is going on. ISRO tweeted that scientific experiments are going on continuously there and in this episode ‘Rover’ Pragyan has made a big discovery.
ISRO posted on ‘X’, ‘The instrument LIBS on the rover clearly confirms the presence of Sulfur (S) in the lunar surface near the South Pole, through in-situ measurements for the first time. As expected, Al, Ca, Fe, Cr, Ti, Mn, Si and O have also been detected. The agency further wrote that the search for hydrogen (H) is on.
The ‘Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope’ (LIBS) is to investigate the elemental composition of the soil and rocks around the landing site on the Moon. The LIBS instrument has been developed at the Laboratory of Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS)/ISRO, Bengaluru.
A few days ago, global space technology expert and investor Candace Johnson said on Saturday that Chandrayaan-3’s Pragyan rover is expected to show whether there is ice on the Moon’s south pole. In the B-20 conference organized by industry body CII in New Delhi, Johnson had said that India’s space mission is inspiring not only its youth, but the youth of the world.
On August 23, creating a new history in the space sector, ISRO succeeded in soft landing the lander module equipped with lander ‘Vikram’ and rover ‘Pragyan’ on the south pole of the Moon. According to Indian time, it touched the surface of the moon at around 6.04 pm. With this, India became the first country in the world to do ‘soft landing’ on the south pole of the Moon and the fourth country in the world to do ‘soft landing’ on the lunar surface.
