Gwalior: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is a successful Indian politician as well as an important part of the Scindia dynasty of Gwalior. Scindia is the grandson of Jivajirao Scindia, the last Maharaja of the Gwalior princely state. For decades, Jai Vilas Palace, located in the royal city of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, has been the home of the Scindia dynasty.
Jaivilas Palace was built by Maharaja Jayajirao Scindia in the year 1874. Then its cost was around one crore rupees, but today the price of this magnificent and luxurious palace is around 4,000 crores. There are more than 400 rooms in this palace. More than 30 of these rooms have been made museums.
It is said that gold, silver and gems are studded at many places on the roofs of Jai Vilas Mahal. There is an interior of about 560 kg of gold in the hall of the palace. There is also a five star hotel in the palace. Apart from this, there is a big museum in the palace, which also has the swords of Aurangzeb and Shah Jahan. Along with this, there are many wonderful artifacts of the country and abroad.
There are two huge chandeliers in the museum of Jaivilas Mahal, which weigh thousands of tons. These chandeliers attract tourists towards themselves. It is said that before hanging these chandeliers, 10 elephants were mounted on the ceiling and first the strength of the roof was measured, after that they were hung.
Another famous thing in the museum of Jaivilas Mahal, which attracts the attention of the people and is the silver rail, whose tracks are fixed on the dining table and this rail runs on serving food in special feasts. Indian citizens have to take a ticket at Rs 150 per person to roam here, while the ticket price for foreign nationals is Rs 800.
The Scindia family is still considered a royal family. Jyotiraditya Scindia is the Maharaja of Gwalior. Wife Priyadarshini Raje Scindia is the queen, while the sons Mahaaryaman are the prince and Ananya is the princess.
