Noida. Jyoti would have been 27 years old today, probably a doctor, who would have brought her family ( family ) out of poverty. The first child of his generation, Max would have turned 23 this year, supporting his disabled father and uneducated mother. Both of them were among the victims of the Nithari incident, who were murdered at the age of 10 and 5 respectively. Although the families could not even say their last goodbyes to these children, their belongings helped in their identification. The family members are disappointed after the decision of Allahabad High Court and now they hope that “now God will give them justice”. Allahabad High Court on Monday canceled the death sentence given to Surendra Koli and Moninder Singh Pandher, the main accused in the Nithari murder case.
‘Jyoti was the smartest one in our family, wanted to become a doctor’
Just opposite the crime scene bungalow number D-5 in Sector 31, Noida, 63-year-old Jhabbu Lal and his wife Sunita Devi had a small shop, where they ironed clothes for a living for 25 years. He had lost his 10 year old daughter Jyoti. The date was April 27, 2006. Jyoti was at home at that time due to summer holidays in school. The couple asked Jyoti to go to a nearby tailor shop for some work. He was supposed to be back in 15-20 minutes, but they never saw him again. Jhabbu Lal, while talking to News18, said that the search ended only when they found his belongings in D-5 bungalow. He said that he knew Pandher and used to iron his clothes.
Always considered Pandher a good person
Jhabbu Lal said that I have always considered Pandher a good person. He was decent. He knew that Jyoti was his daughter. Even after this he killed Jyoti. We never saw him again. When the dead bodies were dug out after seven months. Then we identified his clothes, slippers and the money found with him. There were at least 96 bodies at that time, I counted myself, but the case was registered for only 17.
Saw blood on Pandher’s clothes several times.
Talking about Pandher, 60-year-old Sunita Devi told that she had seen blood on Pandher’s clothes many times. It was mostly on his sleeves. When we asked the servant, he said that it was of chicken. We never had any suspicion because we were getting our money on time and we never thought that he could do something like this to us. Mother Sunita Devi, sobbing remembering her daughter Jyoti, said that she was good in studies. At that time, she was in class 5. She told me that she wanted to become a doctor. We wanted to teach him but this devil took him away.
Max’s parents said – he would have been a great support for us
Max was the first child of Rajwati and Ashok after eight years of marriage. He was barely two years old when his father Ashok met with an accident and lost one of his legs. Recalling the Nithari incident, Rajwati told that her son Max’s clothes and slippers were recovered from behind the D-5 bungalow. If Max had been alive, he would have been a great support to the family.
Have lost all hope, no longer have the strength to run for justice
The couple said that they have lost all their hopes. He had money and power, so he was released. We are poor and have no support. Do you think we have the strength to run for justice in this age? Also, if Pandher is not the real culprit then who is? Either now a mistake has been made or the person who blamed him is wrong. If these children were from rich and influential families, do you think it would have taken so much time to hang them.
