Mumbai. Another incident of rude behavior of a passenger has come to light during the flight. Recently, a passenger (Passenger) on board a flight from Sydney to Delhi allegedly abused and assaulted a senior Air India official.
Giving this information, a source said that the incident took place when the Air India official, who was downgraded from business class to economy class due to a seat fault, tried to interrupt his co-passenger because of his loud voice.
The source alleged that despite the physical assault, the Air India crew member did not use restraint devices to restrain the unruly passenger.
In a statement, an Air India spokesperson said, “On July 9, 2023, a passenger on flight AI-301 operating Sydney-Delhi, despite verbal and written warnings, behaved in an unacceptable manner during flight, causing inconvenience to other passengers.” There was trouble in which one of our employees is also involved.
The airline said that after the plane landed safely in Delhi, the passenger was handed over to the security agency and the passenger later apologized in writing. It also said that the DGCA has been ‘duly informed’ of the incident and told that the airline will ‘take a firm stand against the misconduct’.
The Air India official was allotted seat 30-C but there were other passengers so he decided to change the seat. After this he was given 25 ABC seats. The source alleged that, “The AI officer started chiding his co-passenger for his loud voice, but the passenger sitting next to him slapped him and abused him by twisting his head.”
