New Delhi. Cases of corona virus have started increasing again in India. Due to the new variant ‘Omicron’ of Corona, the number of daily patients is increasing continuously. On January 1, the first day of the year, 22,775 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in the country in a single day, which is the highest since October 6. Now the number of patients under treatment in the country has also crossed the one lakh mark. With this, after the arrival of 161 new cases of the new form of virus ‘Omicron’, the number of cases related to it has increased to 1431.
In view of the increasing pace of Corona, experts say that the third wave of the epidemic has already knocked and Omicron has started replacing the Delta variant. Not only this, experts also believe that in the month of February or March, the number of patients infected with corona will be at its peak and during that time the number of cases coming daily can reach up to two lakhs.
The health ministry has been working in a mission mode since the first two cases of Omicron form were announced in the country on December 2. Around December 15, the number of daily corona patients was about 6000, but now suddenly the cases of infection have increased rapidly. In view of the situation, the central government has alerted the states and union territories that there may be an increase in the cases of corona, so everyone needs to be prepared.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also regularly holding meetings to review the preparedness of COVID-19, Omicron status and health systems across the country. At the same time, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviews the situation daily with expert teams and senior officials. He also inquires about the stock of medicines and ventilators and the availability of oxygen. The ‘War Room’ of the Ministry of Health is working round the clock and is analyzing all the trends and developments and monitoring the situation nationwide.
Opinions of experts and scientists are divided regarding the third wave of Kovid-19. When NITI Aayog member (health) Dr. VK Paul was asked a question on the possibility of a third wave of the pandemic, he said that it depends on how many people have been vaccinated. He said that in present times, vaccination is the most surefire way to prevent infection. However, along with this, he also emphasized on following the Kovid-19 protocol. At the same time, some experts believe that due to the new variant Omicron, there will be an increase in corona cases, but it is not more serious than Delta.
Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur have claimed in their study that the third wave of the Kovid-19 epidemic in India may peak by February 3 next year. However, this forecast is based on the assumption that many countries affected by the Omicron form of corona virus in India will see a trend of increasing cases.
