Washington: The US on Thursday announced new sanctions against China for human rights abuses of Uighur Muslims. President Joe Biden’s administration said it was imposing new sanctions on several Chinese biotech and surveillance companies for human rights abuses in Xinjiang province. The commerce department is targeting China’s Academy of Military Medical Sciences and its 11 research institutes that focus on biotechnology to support the Chinese military.
