Chennai: In the Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital located in Guindy area of Chennai, an attendant of a patient stabbed the doctor’s neck seven times with a knife, the condition of the injured doctor remains critical. Police said that the attacker Vignesh and one of his associates have been arrested. The doctor who was attacked has been identified as Dr Balaji Jagannath. He has been admitted to the ICU. The condition of Dr Balaji, who was injured in this attack, remains critical. The accused was very upset with his mother’s (Mother) illness and committed the incident.
The accused’s mother is suffering from cancer
Vignesh’s mother Prema is suffering from cancer and Vignesh had a heated argument with the doctor regarding her treatment. They held the doctor responsible for Prema’s critical condition. After a brief argument, Vignesh got angry and took out a knife and attacked the doctor’s neck. People nearby immediately came to the doctor’s aid and took him to the ICU. Private security personnel are deployed inside the hospital, while police are deployed on the outskirts. After the attack, the accused tried to escape but was caught by the security and hospital staff.
According to the police, the suspect has been identified as Vignesh of Perungalathur, who took an outpatient entry pass and entered the oncology department at around 10:30 am, where Dr. Balaji Jagannath was on duty. Accused Vignesh was accompanied by some other people. CM MK Stalin condemned the attack and said that along with the immediate arrest of the attacker, all arrangements have been made for better treatment of the doctor injured in the attack and all actions will be taken to prevent such incidents in future.
