‘Large presence’ of Chinese( Chinese ) ships in the Indian Ocean

New Delhi. Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar on Saturday said there is a “sizable presence” of Chinese ships in the Indian Ocean region and India is closely monitoring developments in the region to safeguard its national interests in the maritime domain. During an interaction at a conference here, he also said that the Indian Navy is monitoring the stay of various Chinese ( Chinese ) Navy ships at ports in Pakistan.

When asked about the threat aspects, the Navy Chief discussed the overall situation emerging apart from both conventional and non-conventional threats. He said the Indian Navy’s role is to protect national interests in the maritime domain, wherever they may be, and assess threats and challenges.

Meanwhile, in a separate talk on ‘Indian Air Force: The future is now’ at ‘The Chanakya Conclave’, Air Chief Marshal VR Chowdhary, Chief of the Air Staff, in Delhi said that the ground attack platform needs to be worked on in the future. Apart from this, “we should also have a space-based attack system”.

‘Some controversy is happening in the sea every day’
Responding to a question about emerging military threats, it said it would “reduce the time to strike a counterattack” and have a greater impact on adversaries, so the future depends on the presence of a “space-based attack platform”. Following this session, the Chief of the Naval Staff participated in a session on ‘Indian Navy in the 21st Century: Emerging Maritime Threats’.

The Navy chief said that every day it is being seen that some or the other dispute is happening in the sea. He said that it is far below the level of confrontation, but the possibility of a confrontation cannot be ruled out.

When asked a question regarding the stoppage of Chinese Navy ships at ports in Pakistan, he said that these ships are anchoring not only in Pakistan but also at ports of various countries. As far as Chinese ships arriving at Pakistani ports is concerned, he said, “we are keeping an eye on it.”

Pakistan Navy is rapidly modernizing
Admiral Kumar said that the Pakistani Navy is modernizing very fast and it is adding new warships to its fleet. He said that as far as China is concerned, a large number of ships and submarines have been commissioned by it in the last 10 years, its third aircraft carrier is under construction.

The Navy chief said that China is also working on a very large destroyer. The Navy chief said, “We are keeping a very close watch in the Indian Ocean region … trying to know who is present there and what they are doing, we are constantly monitoring and we are using aircraft, drones, ships, Deploying submarines.

He said, “A large number of Chinese ships are present. There are three to six Chinese warships in the Indian Ocean region at any given time.
