New Delhi. India is holding an important meeting with five Central Asians including Iran, Russia in the capital Delhi regarding the situations arising after the Taliban occupation of Afghanistan. Central Asian countries include countries like Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. This meeting of National Security Advisor level will be held on November 10. Two such meetings have already taken place in Iran in 2018, 2019. According to sources, the reason for the delay in the third meeting in India has been the corona epidemic.
The agenda of this meeting will be cross-border terrorism, the presence of terrorist groups and political instability and rising extremism in Afghanistan. India faces major security challenges after the Taliban took over Afghanistan in mid-August. In the meeting, there will be an in-depth discussion on the issue of stability and inclusive government in Afghanistan.
In fact, India has been involved in infrastructure projects such as development and connectivity in Afghanistan and Central Asia for a long time. Among them is the project of Chabahar Port in Iran and gas pipeline with Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan. According to a report in the Indian Express, the Central Asian countries are participating for the first time in such a big meeting regarding the peace of Afghanistan.
Indian NSA Ajit Doval will hold serious discussions with the National Security Advisors of the countries participating in the meeting. China and Pakistan were also invited to this meeting.
Till now no country has recognized the Taliban. But many countries including India are holding talks with Taliban at various levels. India has repeatedly made it clear to the Taliban that it should not allow Afghanistan to become a safe haven for terrorists. The Taliban themselves have also been saying that they will not allow their land to be used for terrorist activities in any other country.
Recently, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had made it clear that India is fully dedicated to helping the humanitarian tragedy in Afghanistan. India had also appealed to the global community for this.
