According to reports, a team of Chinese virologists has detected a new corona virus found in bats. According to a media report, the dangerous thing is that this virus can also infect humans. The study was led by Chinese virologist Shi Zhengli of the controversial ‘Wuhan Institute of Virology’ i.e. WIV. It is said that COVID-19 spread worldwide from WIV.
‘HKU5 is a new form of corona virus’
Shi, known as ‘Bat Woman’ for her research on viruses originating from bats, and the Chinese government also deny that the virus started spreading from WIV. The newest virus ‘HKU5’ is a new form of coronavirus, which was first identified in Japanese pipistrelle bats in Hong Kong. This new virus is descended from ‘Merbecovirus’ subtypes, which also includes the virus that causes Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
‘Can spread in various mammals’
According to the news, in a study published in the magazine ‘Cell’ on Tuesday, the team of virologists headed by Shi wrote, ‘We have identified a separate lineage (lineage 2) of HKU5-COV, which can spread not only in bats and humans but also in various mammals with the same genetic properties of the same origin. ‘ Researchers found that when the virus was isolated from bat samples, it was found that it could infect human cells as well as small groups of artificially grown cells or tissue, which looked like small respiratory or intestinal organs.
