Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal (Kejriwal) on Monday accused the BJP government of poisoning the Yamuna water, after which the Election Commission has sent a notice to Arvind Kejriwal and asked him to provide evidence tomorrow i.e. Wednesday. The Election Commission has asked AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to prove his serious allegations of poisoning the Yamuna river and mass genocide with facts. The ECI has cited various judicial declarations and legal provisions under which such statements against national unity and public harmony can lead to imprisonment of up to three years.
The Commission said this in the notice
The Commission said that such allegations have the serious effect of creating enmity between regional groups and residents of neighboring states, creating a threat of law and order situation due to actual or alleged shortage or unavailability of water. The Commission has directed Kejriwal to submit his reply to the complaints by 8 pm on January 29, 2025, preferably with factual and legal matrix with evidentiary support so that the Commission can investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
Kejriwal had made the allegation
Kejriwal had claimed on Monday that the BJP was mixing poison in the Yamuna water coming to Delhi from Haryana in an attempt to create chaos… Hopefully the blame will fall on his party’s administration. People of Delhi get drinking water from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh… But the Haryana government has mixed poison in the water coming to Delhi from Yamuna and sent it here… It is due to the vigilance of our Delhi Jal Board engineers that this water has been stopped. However, this claim of Kejriwal was opposed by the Chief Engineer of Delhi Jal Board and said that this could spread fear among the people.
