ISROISRO released the first glimpse

New Delhi. A day after Chandrayaan-3 successfully entered the Moon’s orbit, the first glimpse of the Moon ISRO captured by the spacecraft was released on Sunday. The related tweet said, “Moon as seen by Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft during Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) on August 5, 2023.” This is another major achievement of Chandrayaan-3. The spacecraft is progressing successfully on its mission.

Chandrayaan-3 on Saturday sent a message to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) after successful operation, “I feel the lunar gravity.” It is a major milestone in the space agency’s ambitious Rs 600-crore mission. ISRO shared a message from the satellite to its centres, which read, “MOX, ISTRAC, this is Chandrayaan-3. I feel the lunar gravity.”

Continuous monitoring of spacecraft status
ISRO said, the condition of the spacecraft is being continuously monitored from the Bangalore Mission Operations Complex and all the systems are working properly. Now the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will try to get Chandrayaan-3 ‘soft landing’ on the lunar surface on 23 August. Early on August 1, the spacecraft achieved an orbit of 288 km by 3.7 lakh km through trans-lunar injection (TLI) and entered the Moon’s sphere of influence.

Another success of Chandrayaan-3, established in Moon’s orbit
“Chandrayaan-3 has been successfully placed in the Moon’s orbit. The retro-burning on Perilune was commanded from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX), ISTRAC (ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network), Bengaluru, the space agency said. Perilune is the closest point of a spacecraft to the Moon. ISRO said in a tweet, the orbit reduction operation will be done at 11 pm on Sunday night. Several scientists of the space agency have said in the last one month that they are confident of a successful LOI, as it has been done twice in 2019 (Chandrayaan-2) and 2008 (Chandrayaan-1).
