Congress had received the invitation for the consecration of Ram temple a few days ago. The party shared a letter on social media on January 10, in which it explained the reason for the decision of not attending the inauguration of Ram Temple. Congress has written that religion is a personal matter, but BJP/RSS has made the inauguration program of the temple its own event.
People associated with the Congress party say that the Congress leadership has taken this decision keeping in mind the preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In this regard, these 6 special aspects have been kept in mind:-
1) Congress first spoke in the INDIA block. Seeking the side of colleagues. Leaders of most of the parties in the opposition alliance were not interested in participating on January 22.
2) Left parties, Trinamool Congress, DMK, MDMK had already announced to distance themselves from the program of consecration of Ram temple.
3) Congress feels that the party is already weak in North India. He might damage his growing vote bank in South India by attending the Ram Mandir programme.
4) In the politics of South India, especially Tamil Nadu and Kerala, parties that carry forward Sanatani traditions are rarely liked. In such a situation, visiting Ayodhya during the January 22 event would have proved adverse for the electoral health of the party.
5) Congress is trying to create an atmosphere that the Pran Pratishtha program is not an event to spread the faith of Hindu religion but to shine the image of PM Modi.
6) To prove this argument, on January 15, UP Congress leader Ajay Rai will visit the temporary temple of Ram Lala in Ayodhya.
Till now, many leaders of the opposition alliance INDIA have opened their cards for the program on 22 January. The atmosphere regarding Ram Temple was almost similar to that when the new Parliament building was inaugurated and the entire opposition alliance stayed away from it. Most of the leaders of the opposition alliance are boycotting the 22 January program in Ayodhya.
Congress divided into two factions after rejecting the invitation
However, the political disadvantages of Congress’s decision to boycott have also started becoming visible. Rejecting the invitation for Pran Pratistha on Wednesday, Congress announced that none of its leaders will attend the Pran Pratistha program. At the same time, some leaders of INDIA Alliance do not want to be seen personally protesting against the Ram-may atmosphere created in the country.
Many party leaders have expressed disagreement over this decision of Congress. Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam said that Ram does not belong to any party. Our fight is not with Ram or Ayodhya, but with BJP. Some people are taking Congress on the leftist path. I want that the Congress leadership should reconsider the decision of not going to Ayodhya.
Confusion in Congress too
There is confusion in Congress also regarding the whole matter. Congress leadership has been saying that the construction of Ram temple is being done on the orders of the Supreme Court, then how come today it is calling it an organization of BJP-RSS. At the same time, a section of the Congress argues that the lock of Ram Lala temple in Ayodhya was opened when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister, so today his opposition to the life of Ram Lala creates apprehension.
