Sanket Sargar gave India its first medal. After this, Gururaj Pujari doubled the number of medals by winning the bronze. After this only the gold medal was left, for which Mirabai Chanu ended the wait. Mirabai, who won a medal in the Olympics for one year, won gold in the Commonwealth Games 2022, which was held in Birmingham. Weightlifter Bindiyarani Devi also won the fourth medal of the day.
India could not win any medal on the first day of the Commonwealth Games being held in Birmingham. Indian players made up for it on the second day of the tournament. Star weightfilter Mirabai Chanu won the gold medal in the 49kg category on Saturday. He lifted 88 kg in snatch and 109 kg in clean and jerk. In this way, he won the gold medal by lifting a total of 197 kg. Mirabai has won gold in Commonwealth Games for the second time in a row. He also won gold in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
