Declaration of election dates in 5 states possible today

New Delhi: Election Commission will hold a meeting at 11 am regarding elections in 5 states. Election dates can also be announced in this. A meeting of all the senior officers of the commission is usually held on Friday. But this meeting is being considered important regarding the elections of five states.

The Chief Election Commissioner, both the Election Commissioners and all the Deputy Election Commissioners will be present in the meeting. Tomorrow’s meeting is important because the Election Commission has completed all the preparations for the elections in all the five states.

This time the Election Commission has increased the expenditure limit of candidates in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. The commission has taken this decision regarding the expenditure just before the announcement of the Legislative Assembly elections. The limit of election expenditure has been increased on the basis of the recommendation of the committee formed after rising inflation and the demand of political parties.

Expenditure limit for Lok Sabha elections in big states has been increased from 70 to 95 lakhs. Except for Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, the expenditure limit for Lok Sabha elections has been increased from 54 lakhs to 75 lakhs in the rest of the Union Territories and small territories.

Candidates contesting Vidhan Sabha elections in big states will now have the freedom to spend up to 40 lakhs instead of 28 lakhs. Expenditure limit has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 28 lakh in Union Territories and smaller states.
