New Delhi. Exactly three years ago, on 29 and 30 August 2020, the Indian Army put China on the backfoot by occupying important peaks on the southern side of Pangong. China had forced dozens of tanks deployed in the area of Spangur Gap to return. China had deployed its Light Tank VT-5 @ Type -15 @ ZTQ -15 for the purpose of fighting the Indian Army in the High Altitude Area and was boasting to the world that its capability for the High Altitude Area The best light tanks (light-tank) out there. China exhibits its weapons in such a way as if no one in the world has a better weapon than that.
Similarly, China had also made claims regarding VT-5 light tank and many small countries including Bangladesh got trapped in its trap. And in the affair of light tank VT-5, Bangladesh now has to go round the Chinese tank manufacturer company NORINCO. Actually, in the year 2019, Bangladesh had bought 44 VT-5 light tanks from China and last year these tanks started getting to Bangladesh. Right now Bangladesh army is using those tanks only for training that their condition has started to deteriorate.
Failed in 100 km driving test, rust in nut-bolt
According to the sources, the problems being faced by the Bangladesh Army and the reply given by the Chinese company is also very interesting. According to sources, rusting has started in the auxiliary power unit and nut bolts. If you open the bolts fitted in the tank for maintenance then they are not working properly. Even before the 100 km driving test, more than 11 percent of the rubber blocks on the track got cracked and 9 percent were completely torn. When this complaint was given to the Chinese company. After its investigation, the reason given by the Chinese company is shocking.
Many complaints including leakage in Chinese tank
According to the Chinese company, these cracks have come due to running the tank on a surface with rough and sharp stones. Now the question arises whether Chinese tanks are made to operate in flat ground. Not only this, the entire track of some tanks is coming out from the sprocket. Not only this, there have also been complaints of leakage in the auxiliary power unit fuel tank, drop in coolant level during the drive and leakage of fuel oil lubricant from other parts of the tank.
The Chinese are selling their VT-5 tanks by lying
Bangladesh had signed an agreement to purchase 44 VT-5 tanks from China in 2019. The delivery of the tank started from last year 2022. Bangladesh is the first customer of Chinese VT-5 tanks and these tanks were seen for the first time during the Victory Day Parade of Bangladesh on 16 December 2022. These light tanks are being used by China’s Shingjian Military Command and Marines of Tibet. If we talk about its armament, then 105 mm rifled gun is fitted and in one turn this tank can carry 38 rounds of 105 mm ammunition. Due to the barrel plane of the tank, anti-tank guided missiles can also be fired from it. These are the same tanks that China has deployed against the Indian Army on the LAC with China in East Ladakh.
The tank was deployed on the entire LAC
If we talk about China’s light tank, then China has deployed its ZTQ-15 or say Type 15 tank on the entire LAC. The tank weighs 33 tonnes and due to its low weight, it can easily climb high altitude areas. Such claims have been made on behalf of China regarding these tanks. Since there are only tanks in the world that can operate in any kind of terrain, but the tanks made for use in high altitude areas are not able to run properly even in flat areas. It is clear from this that China sold substandard tanks to Bangladesh.
