The central government said on Thursday that the decision to give the third dose of the anti-Covid vaccine to all adults would be taken on scientific basis and the information received regarding this is being seriously considered. NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr. VK Paul, in response to a question asked in a weekly press conference, said that all decisions regarding the precautionary dosage are taken first on the basis of needs.
The official said that the additional requirements of vaccination and adapting them according to the population are being continuously tested. He said, “We also monitor and analyze the developments in the world and all immunization options are being actively considered.” Responding to a question on vaccination coverage, Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health. Said that although there is variation in the coverage of vaccination among different age groups, but collectively the pace of vaccination in the country is still good. Paul said that the cases of re-infection are also being continuously monitored.
Let us tell you that about 172 crore injections of Kovid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far. According to the Ministry of Health, more than 43 lakh (43,78,909) injections of the vaccine have been administered till 7 pm on Thursday. He says that this number is likely to increase further by the end of the day. According to the statement, more than 1.64 crore (1,64,61,231) people (senior citizens) above 60 years of age have been given preventive injections.
