Biden’s threat to Russia

United Nations. India said in the UN Security Council meeting held on Monday to discuss the Ukraine issue that it is looking for ways to reduce the tension immediately. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations TS Tirumurti on the issue of ‘threat to international peace and security (Ukraine)’ said, “India is interested in finding a solution that can help reduce tensions immediately. We are also in touch with all the concerned parties.”

India further said, “We urge all concerned parties to continue to engage through all kinds of diplomatic channels and work towards full implementation of the ‘Minsk Package’.” TS Tirumurti said, “We welcome the ongoing efforts, including the Minsk Agreement and the Normandy Format, to defuse Ukraine tensions. We also welcome the unconditional observance of the July 2020 ceasefire and the reaffirmation of the Minsk Agreement.”

On the other hand, US President Joe Biden once again threatened Russia with the consequences in the event of an attack on Ukraine. Joe Biden at the UNSC said, “If Russia is committed to addressing our security concerns through dialogue, the United States and our allies will move in that direction.” But if Russia instead attacks Ukraine, it will face dire consequences.”
It is noteworthy that about one lakh soldiers have been deployed near the border of Russia with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, India did not participate in the procedural voting in the UN Security Council ahead of a meeting to discuss the situation along the Ukraine border on Monday. Ahead of Monday’s UN Security Council meeting to discuss the Ukraine issue, Russia, a permanent and veto-holder member, called for a procedural vote to determine whether the open meeting should proceed.
Russia and China voted against the meeting, while India, Gabon and Kenya did not participate. All 10 other council members, including Norway, France, the US, the UK, France, Ireland, Brazil and Mexico, voted in favor of the meeting. The council needed only nine votes to proceed with the meeting. The meeting on the situation on the border with Ukraine proceeded with 10 council members voting in favor of the meeting.
