Ban on women traveling alone in Afghanistan, Tughlaqi decree

Kabul: Since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan, atrocities against women have increased in the country and their fundamental rights have been violated. The Taliban government has issued many Tughlaqi decrees against women and girls for school education and jobs. Now the Taliban has issued another absurd decree, saying that women will be allowed to travel long distances only if they have a close male relative present with them. That is, now women in Afghanistan will not be able to travel on their own.

Sadiq Aqif Muhajir, spokesman for the Taliban government in Afghanistan, said that women who want to travel 72 km. If there is no close male relative with them, then they should not be allowed to travel. He stressed that it would be very important to have a man with a woman.

At the same time, according to another order that made headlines on social media, civilians in Afghanistan have been forbidden to play music in their vehicles. Earlier, the Ministry of Afghanistan had asked TV channels not to show dramas and serials related to female actors. At the same time, women journalists were asked to do anchoring by wearing hijab. At the same time, Taliban government spokesman Muhajir said that hijab is an Islamic practice and women will have to wear hijab even while traveling.

Human rights organizations are very angry with these decrees by the Talibani government in Afghanistan. Heather Barr, an activist associated with women’s rights, said that this new order is another new step in the direction of keeping women in captivity. This order will curtail the freedom of women to move freely, travel in connection with employment and travel to other cities.

Let us tell you that on August 15 this year, after the US army left Afghanistan, the Taliban took control of the country. Since then, the Taliban government has snatched employment opportunities from women and banned many women from joining the job. At the same time, the names of girls were also removed from a large number of schools.
