Delhi: With the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the assembly (Assembly ) elections in Delhi, the Delhi government on Tuesday issued various guidelines and banned the display of photographs and references to the elected government or politicians of any other party on government websites. The General Administration Department (GAD) of Delhi in its order directed various departments to immediately remove photographs and references to the Council of Ministers, political parties and their leaders from official websites.
In another order, the General Administration Department directed that in view of the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), no advertisements highlighting the achievements of the government at the cost of the government treasury will be issued.
Voting on February 5, results on February 8
The election bugle sounded in the country’s capital Delhi on Tuesday. Voting for the 70-member assembly here will be held on February 5, while the counting of votes will be done on February 8. The Election Commission announced the dates for the elections here on Tuesday. The term of the Delhi Assembly ends on February 23. Delhi has 70 assembly seats, out of which 58 are reserved for the general category, while 12 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes.
When is the last date for filing nominations?
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar told in a press conference that the last date for filing nominations is January 17 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be done by January 18. He said that candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations by January 20.
