Army being prepared for the future: Manoj Pandey

HYDERABAD: Army Chief General Manoj Pandey on Saturday said that transformational reforms are on in other areas like human resource management and capacity development with a focus on self-reliance in the armed forces. He was addressing a joint graduation parade at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal.

The Army Chief said, “India’s security landscape is vast, complex and multifaceted. Our sensitive borders and equally challenging internal security threats require a very high level of operational preparedness,” he said, adding that disruptive technologies are shaping the character of modern warfare.

Technology is no longer limited to principles
General Pandey said that emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, robotics and hypersonics are no longer confined to theories, but are manifesting directly on the battlefields. He said that using and taking advantage of technology is no longer an option but a necessity.

“Transformational reforms are also underway in the armed forces in terms of capacity development with focus on human resource management and other areas such as ‘self-reliance’,” the Army Chief said.

The Army Chief said that the young officers would be a guide in leading the changes. He exhorted the passing out officers to continue the pursuit of knowledge and said that imbibing the qualities of leadership is the ultimate duty of every officer of the Armed Forces.
