New Delhi. Former MP and Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala’s father Ajay Chautala was released from Tihar Jail on Thursday after completing his 10-year jail term in connection with the teacher recruitment scam in Haryana. Jail officials said Chautala’s sentence had been completed and he was formally released on Thursday.
A senior jail official said, “Chautala was jailed on January 16, 2013 for a 10-year jail term after he was convicted (by the court) in a CBI case. During the period of the sentence, he earned a total remission of two years, seven months and 24 days.
He told, “He was on emergency parole from 14 May 2021. He reached Tihar Jail on Thursday and deposited his fine, after which he was formally released. ,
Ajay Chautala, the elder son of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, and 53 others were convicted in the illegal recruitment of 3,206 junior basic teachers in the year 2000. A special CBI court had sentenced the case in January 2013. Om Prakash Chautala was released from Tihar Jail last year.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala shared a photo expressing happiness over the release of his father. He wrote that as a family and a party, the nightmare of 9 years and 25 days has come to an end for us today. Your continued presence will be our much needed and blessing. You are our hero. We are very happy to have you back home.
In January 2013, when Ajay Chautala and Om Prakash Chautala were convicted, both were in the same party INLD, the Congress was in government in the state and the BJP was looking for its base. But now after 9 years, the entire politics of Haryana has changed. In 2014, power was lost from the hands of Congress and in the Modi wave with full majority, BJP formed the government in Haryana on its own for the first time.
Before the 2019 assembly elections, the INLD and BSP alliance raised hopes of a coalition government in the state, but before the elections, INLD itself was torn apart and Ajay Chautala’s son Dushyant Chautala was expelled from the INLD by the Jannayak public. Party formed. INLD got only one seat in this election and the new party JJP won ten seats in the state. In 2019, BJP could not touch the majority figure and with the support of JJP, the government was formed in the state and Ajay Chautala’s son Dushyant Chautala became the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
The then Director of Primary Education Sanjeev Kumar played an important role in exposing the JBT scam. He had filed a petition in the Punjab-Haryana High Court regarding the investigation of this case. On the orders of the High Court, the CBI started the investigation of the scam in the year 2003. The special thing is that the CBI has also made Sanjeev Kumar an accused in this case.
In fact, the CBI also considered him guilty in the scam. In the year 2008, the CBI had presented a charge sheet against the accused in the court, according to which, during the recruitment of 3206 JBT teachers in 18 districts of Haryana in the year 1999-2000, the desired candidates were given jobs by following the norms.
