Former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has accused Rahul Gandhi of having relations with ‘unwanted businessmen’, for which the BJP has sought clarification on the matter while targeting the Congress. On the other hand, the Congress attacked Azad, saying that he is constantly stooping low to show his true character and loyalty to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh also said that his ‘statement shows how worried Azad is to keep himself relevant.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, in response to a question related to his name being mentioned in a tweet by Rahul Gandhi, alleged that Rahul Gandhi and his family have relations with many such businessmen, some of whom are also unwanted. He said in an interview to Malayalam news network ‘Asia Net’, ‘I have a lot of respect for the Gandhi family, so I don’t want to speak anything against their family. Otherwise I can give 10 such examples where Rahul Gandhi goes abroad and meets unwanted industrialists.
Ravi Shankar Prasad targeted Rahul Gandhi
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Rahul Gandhi should clarify on the serious allegation made by former Congress veteran Azad that he has links with unwanted businessmen. Former Union Minister Prasad questioned whether Rahul was trying to weaken the country at the behest of anti-India businessmen. Prasad told reporters in Patna, ‘Ghulam Nabi Azad has made a serious allegation that whenever Rahul Gandhi goes on a foreign tour, he meets many unwanted businessmen. He said, ‘Who are these ‘unwanted traders’ and what are their interests? Is Rahul Gandhi trying to weaken the country at the behest of anti-India businessmen and working against PM Modi?
Taking a dig at Azad, Jairam Ramesh tweeted, ‘With each passing day, Ghulam Nabi Azad is stooping low to show his true character and loyalty to PM Modi. His scathing comment on the Congress leadership shows how desperate he is to remain relevant. All I can say is that it is very pathetic. On Azad’s statement, Congress media chief Pawan Kheda said, “Congratulations to those who have bungalows.” Everyone knows on whose tune he is reciting this Raga Darbari.
