Arrest warrant issued against Putin.

Moscow. The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes, including the deportation of Ukrainian children. The court has made serious allegations like war crimes against Putin. Along with this, the Russian President is also accused of forcibly taking Ukrainian children to Russia illegally. It has said that these crimes have been committed since February 24, 2022, when Russia started fully infiltrating Ukraine. Although Moscow has rejected all war crime allegations including infiltration.

The ICC has accused Putin of being involved in the deportation of children, and has said that it has reasonable grounds to believe that he directly committed these acts, as well as assisted others in doing so. The court also said that the Russian president had failed to exercise his authority to prevent others from deporting the children.

Russia’s commissioner for the rights of children, Maria Lvova-Belova, has also been declared wanted by the ICC. Despite warrants being issued against Putin and Lvova-Belova, the ICC has no power to arrest suspects, and can only exercise jurisdiction within countries that have signed the agreement establishing the court. Russia has not signed that agreement – so it is unlikely that either will be extradited.
