New Delhi. On Sunday, once again a new controversy was seen in Delhi’s prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). A clash broke out between members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABP) and the Left on the occasion of Shivaji Jayanti at the JNU Students’ Union office here. ABVP alleges that the leftist activists removed the garland from Shivaji Maharaj’s picture and threw it down. On the other hand, the Left has accused the ABP workers of assault.
ABP said in a statement that it had organized a program on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary. Immediately after this program, the leftist students came there and took off the garland and threw Shivaji’s picture down.
ABP tweeted pictures
ABP has also shared several pictures of the incident, in which it has said, ‘In JNU, the portrait of Veer Shivaji was garlanded by the leftists in the student’s union office and the pictures of great men were vandalized and thrown away. ABVP strongly condemns this and demands action against the culprits.
JNU accuses ABP
At the same time, JNU Students’ Union JNU also issued a statement on this whole matter and said, ‘ABVP has once again attacked the students. This darshan was done immediately after the candle light march taken out to show solidarity on the call of Solanki’s father. ABVP has once again done this to derail the movement against caste discrimination.
Let us tell you that 18-year-old Solanki, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste, allegedly committed suicide on February 12 by jumping from the seventh floor of the hostel located in the campus of IIT Bombay. JNUSU took out a candle light march to show solidarity with this.
