Two suspected terrorists planning to go to Afghanistan arrested

New Delhi. The National Investigation Agency has arrested two suspected terrorists allegedly linked to Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent in Bengaluru. Giving information in this regard on Sunday, the NIA said that ‘both of them were preparing to go to Afghanistan and take terrorist training’.

The NIA spokesperson has identified the two as Mohammad Arif, a resident of Bengaluru, and Hamraj Varshid Sheikh, a resident of Maharashtra. The investigating agency said that both of them were arrested in connection with the activities of AQIS.

The agency said that both these people were in online contact with foreign handlers associated with banned terrorist organizations. Their aim was to incite and radicalize the youth to get involved in terrorist acts in the country.
The spokesperson said that during the searches conducted at Thanisandra in Bengaluru and Palghar-Thane in Maharashtra on Saturday, both the accused were arrested on Sunday in connection with the conspiracy hatched by terrorist organizations based in India and abroad. Arrested whose purpose was to incite the youth to join violence and terrorism.
