Russia’s army strengthened the front in eastern Donetsk and Luhansk

Kyiv. The Russian army is vigorously attacking Ukraine’s frontline with artillery. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address that some 400 attacks were carried out on Sunday in the eastern region alone. Russia this month pulled troops out of the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson and redeployed some of them to strengthen fronts in the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This is an industrial area known as Donbass.

Zelensky said that as before, the most fierce fighting is taking place in the Donetsk area. Although there have been fewer strikes today due to bad weather, unfortunately the volume of Russian firepower has been high. He said that in the Luhansk area, we are slowly moving forward fighting. While till now there have been about 400 attacks from artillery in the east since the beginning of the day. Zelensky also said that the army in the south is constantly and very carefully destroying the forces of the attackers. But he did not give any details about it.

While deputy head of Zelensky’s administration, Kirillo Tymoshenko, said late on Sunday that Russian forces fired on a residential building in southern Ukraine’s Kherson region. Timoshenko said on the Telegram messaging app that some people may be buried under the rubble. Emergency services are carrying out rescue operations at the scene. Significantly, in the city of Kherson, recently taken back from Russia, people are living without electricity, water or heating. Kyiv said on Saturday that a long-range artillery attack in the south had killed about 60 Russian soldiers. For the second time in four days, Ukraine claimed such a large number of Russian casualties in a single incident.
