New Delhi. A warning of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Holiday has been declared in schools, colleges in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry among other places. Also, during November 11 to 14, there is a possibility of heavy rain at different places in Kerala and Mahe. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rains at isolated places in North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on November 11, while on November 12, 2022 in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area remains over the Bay of South West Bengal off the coast of Sri Lanka. It is expected to move northwestwards by the morning of 12 November. It may move towards Tamil Nadu- Puducherry due to which very heavy rain is expected at these places. In view of the heavy rains, fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea.
Red alert in Tamil Nadu, life badly affected
Due to the anti cyclone, many districts of Tamil Nadu are already receiving heavy rains. Due to this there is a situation of water logging. School-college holidays have been declared in many districts of the state. Heavy rains have affected life in many districts including Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai and Puducherry. Due to the rains, there has been heavy waterlogging in many places of Chennai. People are facing lot of problems due to water logging. A red alert was issued for rain in Tamil Nadu on Friday. Orange alert has been issued for the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh regarding heavy rains till Saturday.
Heavy to very heavy rain expected
The Meteorological Department said that a low pressure area remains in the south-west of the Bay of Bengal, off the coast of Sri Lanka. It is likely to intensify further during the next 24 hours. It is expected that the low pressure area will move towards Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast by Saturday morning. Thereafter, it will move west-northwestwards over Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and Kerala during November 12-13.
