Mumbai. Three cases of BA.4 subtype and one case of BA.5 subtype of Omicron form of corona virus infection have been reported in Mumbai and all these patients have recovered from the disease. The Health Department of Maharashtra gave this information on Monday. BA.4 and BA.5 are subtypes of the highly contagious Omicron form of the corona virus. Omicron had caused the third wave of the global pandemic in the country.
The Health Department said that a report of the laboratory of Kasturba Hospital, run by the Municipal Corporation, has confirmed the presence of BA.4 subtype in three patients and BA.5 in one patient in the metropolis. He told that out of these four patients, two are girls and two are men. The age of girls is 11 years and that of men is between 40 to 60 years. “All the patients have completed the period of home isolation and have recovered from the disease,” the department said.
1885 new cases of corona in Maharashtra
Meanwhile, after 1,885 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in Maharashtra on Monday, the total number of infected in the state increased to 79,12,462 and after the death of one more patient, the total death toll rose to 1,47,871. The state health department gave this information. In Maharashtra, the number of daily cases on Monday recorded a decline of 36 percent as compared to Sunday. On Sunday, 2,946 people were found infected in the state and two people died.
1118 new cases of infection in Mumbai city
It has been told in the bulletin of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation that 1,118 new cases of infection have been reported in Mumbai city, which is 38 percent less than the previous day.
