Washington: America has once again warned China in strong words about supporting Russia. America said that China should take a lesson from the kind of sanctions imposed on China. On the other hand, about India, America has said that India is dependent on Russian weapons, which they will try to reduce. US Deputy Speaker of State Wende Sherman, while addressing a gathering in Brussels, said that China is not helping Ukraine to handle the situation, but it is standing with Russia. Wende further said – China will take some lessons by looking at the kind of sanctions imposed against Russia. China has seen what sanctions we have imposed on Russia. This should give China an idea of what options we have and what we can do if needed.
While taking a soft stand for India, Sherman said – We know that India has dependence on Russia for weapons. We will try to help India in this. By doing this we will reduce Russia’s arms business globally. He said that India also understands that dependence on Russia for weapons will not last long because Russia is facing various economic sanctions.
Sherman further said- India was absent from the United Nations meeting to condemn Russia. Earlier this month there were talks between President Joe Biden and India’s PM Narendra Modi. In this conversation, PM Narendra Modi told Joe Biden that he has to depend on Russian weapons to protect the borders with China. The substitute for Russian weapons is quite expensive. America understands India’s problem and we will try to reduce India’s dependence on Russian weapons.
