Omicron on its way to Delta

London: The Omicron variant has again caused corona infection worldwide. Preliminary investigations have shown that this variant is highly contagious but less pathogenic than other previous variants. Its symptoms are similar to the previous variants. These include cold-cold, fever and body pain. The symptoms associated with Omicron variants have been explained in detail by quoting a study. In the ZOE Kovid Study, millions of people from all over the world told about the symptoms of all the variants of the corona epidemic, with the help of which got a lot to know about this epidemic.

In 2020, the common symptoms of the alpha variant of the corona virus – phlegm, fever and no smell. Apart from this, headache, body ache, difficulty in breathing and stomach related problems are the main symptoms. At the same time, all these common symptoms were seen in the Delta variant as well.

The symptoms associated with the Omicron variant are also mostly similar to the delta variant. These include cold, especially in people who have taken the vaccine, and common fever, runny nose, body ache, diarrhea and skin rash.

It was reported in this study that no significant difference was found in the symptoms of Delta and Omicron variants. These include runny nose, headache, fatigue, sneezing and sore throat as the main 5 symptoms. But there are some differences when it comes to the spread of these symptoms.

For example, loss of smell or loss of taste was one of the top 10 symptoms in October. At the same time, according to the data of this study, about 29 percent people will experience fever, because in the past it was a very rare common symptom. Importantly, in this study it was found that only half of the population had 3 major symptoms related to Kovid-19 including fever, phlegm or loss of smell.

The government’s guidelines for PCR test (in which it has been said that if you have any one of these 3 symptoms then you should get tested) are very old and irrelevant.

How deadly is Omicron?

This new variant of the corona virus is more contagious than the previous variants, due to which it spread rapidly all over the world. However, the rate of hospitalization for being infected with this variant is not entirely clear at the moment. So that it can be estimated that due to this variant, the burden on health services will increase. It is worth noting that most of the people complain of cold due to Delta and Omicron so this variant can affect our life in the long run. Especially those people who have not taken the vaccine.

Is it Omicron or a cold?

Cold and runny nose are common in the winter season. Data from the Kovid Study App shows that the symptoms of the existing Kovid variants are similar to the common cold.

This means that it is not possible to be sure on the basis of symptoms. Although when the effects of COVID are high, there is a sore throat, runny nose or unusual tiredness but this should not be considered as COVID until you have been tested.

Overall, whether you have COVID or not, it is best to stay at home if you are feeling sick with such symptoms. And if you go out, wear a mask. Avoid spreading your germs to others who may be more vulnerable.
