Alarm bells in Britain!

London: The new Omicron variant of the corona virus is slowly showing its effect all over the world. Community transmission of Omicron, which has spread in more than two dozen countries, has started in Britain. Britain’s Health Minister Sajid Javed said in Parliament on Monday that the new form of the corona virus, Omicron, has started spreading at the community level in areas of the country.

Javed said in the House of Commons that according to the latest figures, a total of 336 cases of this form of virus have been reported so far. He said that of these, 71 cases have been reported in Scotland and four in Wales. “There are also cases which have nothing to do with international travel,” he said. So we can conclude that it is now spreading at the community level in many areas of the UK.

The oomicron form of the corona virus is related to its ability to penetrate the immunity built up by previous infection to a great extent. This claim has been made in a study based on population level evidence. To the contrary, there is no population-level evidence of immunity to beta or delta forms, a team of researchers in South Africa said. The B.1.1.529 variant was first detected recently in South Africa and has been described by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a ‘worrying variant’.
