Islamabad: Jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan  (Imran Khan) is getting luxurious facilities in jail. Here he is being given coolers, TVs, separate kitchens, exercise equipment and other facilities and there is also space for walking near his cell. The Pakistan government gave this information to the Supreme Court. Khan (71) has been kept in the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since September last year.

He was arrested on August 5 after being convicted in the Toshakhana corruption case and kept in the district jail in Attock. However, he was later transferred. The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, who appeared in a case in the Supreme Court on May 30, had complained to the Chief Justice that he was living in isolation and the government had banned his meeting with lawyers and family members.

Imran Khan rejects claims
The government, in its reply to the Supreme Court, rejected Khan’s claims and submitted a list of facilities provided to the former prime minister, including photographs of his cell and other items as well as his meeting with the legal team in jail. The government said Khan has been provided with a cell cooler, TV, separate kitchen, table to read books, chair and exercise equipment and space to walk. The court suggested that if necessary, a commission could be appointed to verify Khan’s allegations.
