Delhi: Fog and cold wave have engulfed the entire North India including Delhi-NCR. The severity of winter is such that Monday was the coldest day of the season in Delhi and the temperature reached 5 degrees Celsius. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has now warned of light rain (rain ) in the capital today (January 9), due to which the temperature may fall further. Due to severe cold, people of Delhi are being forced to remain confined to their homes. Roads and markets have been closed due to cold wave. People are taking help of bonfire to escape the cold wave. Along with this, there is a bone-chilling cold in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.
Delhi is experiencing cold like Nainital
Monday was the coldest day of the month in Delhi with a minimum temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius. According to IMD, the temperature in Delhi on Monday was similar to that of Nainital. The minimum temperature recorded in Nainital was 5.4 degrees Celsius. People of Delhi say that there is an atmosphere like Kullu Manali Shimla in Delhi. Earlier on December 15, the minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 4.9 degrees, four degrees below normal, which was the lowest temperature in the entire season so far. IMD said that the maximum temperature in Delhi on Monday was recorded at 17.5 degrees Celsius, one degree less than normal. An IMD official said that there is a possibility of cold in some parts of Delhi during the day on Tuesday and it will reduce thereafter.
Possibility of light rain or drizzle in Delhi
In the midst of bone-chilling winter, rain is going to increase further troubles. The Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy sky and possibility of light rain or drizzle on Tuesday. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 15 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be around seven degrees Celsius. Along with this, the incidence of fog is also increasing. Due to fog, traffic is also being affected a lot. Along with this, the operation of trains and planes has also been affected. Due to low visibility, many trains are running late, while landing and take-off of many planes has been delayed.
Winter continues in Bihar too, people in distress
The scourge of bone-chilling winter continues in Bihar too. Due to severe cold and fog, life has become disrupted, while people are in bad condition due to severe cold. Due to the severe cold, bonfires have been arranged at various intersections in the cities to protect from the cold. Whereas, people of rural areas are protecting themselves from heat and cold by using their local resources like bonfires. In the capital Patna on Monday, the minimum temperature was 15.6 degrees and the maximum temperature was 21.8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted the temperature to drop by 2 to 4 degrees in the next two days.
Severe cold continues in Rajasthan
Severe cold continues in many parts of Rajasthan. At the same time, normal life has been affected due to cold wave and dense fog in some parts of the state including Sikar and Alwar. Dense fog is present in Jaisalmer, Churu, Bhilwara, Pilani, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ganganagar, Alwar and Sikar. Visibility in these districts has reduced to less than 200 meters. The minimum temperature in Mount Abu was recorded one degree below freezing point on Monday morning. Minimum temperature in Alwar 3 degrees Celsius, Fatehpur in Sikar 3.5 degrees, Sikar 4 degrees, Pilani 4.8 degrees, Sirohi 4.5 degrees, Churu 5.6 degrees, Jaisalmer 5.8 degrees, Airanpura Road-Barmer 6-6 degrees. Celsius, Karauli recorded 6.5 degrees, Phalodi 7 degrees, Ganganagar 7.5 degrees, Dholpur 7.6 degrees Celsius.
Relief from cold wave in Kashmir, minimum temperature -4.3 degrees
There was some respite from the cold wave on Monday due to clear sky in Kashmir, but the minimum temperature in the valley remained below the freezing point. Meteorological Department officials said that the minimum temperature in Srinagar city was recorded at minus 4.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday night, while it was minus 5.6 degrees Celsius the previous night. He said that the minimum temperature in Qazigund was minus 4.2 degrees, while the minimum temperature in the ski resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir was recorded at four degrees Celsius. Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.3 degrees Celsius, while the previous night it was minus 6.5 degrees Celsius, officials said.
