Mumbai. A traffic advisory has been issued by Mumbai Police in view of the procession taken out for immersion of idols on Anant Chaturthi today, the last day of Ganeshotsav.(Ganpati ) To avert any untoward incident, Mumbai Police is going to deploy more than 19,000 personnel. Similar security arrangements will be made for Eid-e-Milad also. A procession will be taken out on this occasion on Friday.
An official said that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has deployed 1,337 lifeguards, of which 1,035 have been deployed at 69 natural reservoirs while 302 will be deployed around 200 artificial ponds. BMC has deployed 53 motorboats at natural immersion sites. Many Muslim organizations and religious leaders have decided to take out Eid-e-Milad procession on Friday instead of Thursday in view of Anant Chaturthi. The police had made this appeal to him.
An official said that the police personnel deployed on security duty include 16,250 constables, 2,866 officers, 45 assistant commissioners of police, 25 deputy commissioners of police, eight additional police commissioners and other officers. He said that apart from this, 35 platoons of State Reserve Police Force, one company of Quick Action Force, Quick Reaction Force as well as Home Guard personnel will also be present at important places.
