New Delhi. A day after accusing the Indian government of murdering Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, PM Justin Trudeau’s tone now seems to be softening. Seeing the matter gaining momentum, Trudeau today clarified his statement. (statement ) While talking to the media, he said that he is not trying to provoke India but Canada wants New Delhi to address this issue properly. He said, ‘The Government of India needs to take this matter very seriously… We are doing this, we are not thinking of provoking or taking it forward.’
Speaking in the Canadian Parliament, Justin Trudeau on Monday accused India’s intelligence agency RAW of killing Nijjar. On June 18, Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Surrey, Canada. Due to him being a Khalistani terrorist, the Government of India had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on him.
Canada did a stupid thing
Canada not only made serious allegations against the Indian government but also expelled Pawan Kumar Rai, an Indian intelligence officer from Canada. Canada had also revealed his name while ordering him to leave the country immediately. This is the first time when the name of an intelligence officer has been made public in this way in another country. India also has tense relations with China and Pakistan, but the governments of these two countries also never made public the name of the Indian intelligence officer present there.
India retaliated
On this petty action of the Canadian government, retaliatory action was also taken by the government of PM Narendra Modi. India expelled Canadian intelligence officer Olivier Sylvester and ordered him to leave the country within the next five days. The Indian government termed all Canadian allegations as false and baseless.
