New Delhi. The effect of the G-20 summit, which is going to be held in New Delhi on 9 and 10 September, has also been seen on the rail services. Northern Railway (Railways) has issued a list of more than 300 trains whose services will be affected during the G-20 summit. An official statement said that keeping in view the advisories issued for security arrangements, these trains have either been canceled or temporarily diverted to other routes or stations between September 8 and 11. According to Northern Railway, services of 207 trains have been cancelled, terminals of 15 trains have been changed and routes of six trains have been diverted.
Apart from this, additional stoppage stations have been given to 70 trains including Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani Hazrat Nizamuddin, Varanasi-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani to reduce the inconvenience to passengers. The Railways statement said that the starting and ending stations of 36 trains have also been changed and three trains will not stop at Kishanganj in Delhi during the summit. A railway official said that those who have planned their journey during these days are advised to check train timings and routes to avoid any inconvenience.
Significantly, Delhi is ready to host the G-20 summit. The purpose of this conference is to bring together G-20 member countries along with guest countries to participate in discussions about various economic reforms. Heads and representatives of many countries are expected to participate in this prestigious event. Last month, the Delhi Police had issued a comprehensive traffic advisory for common people traveling within Delhi and crossing the borders of the national capital ahead of the G-20 summit. In which it has been said that many travel ban orders will come into force from midnight of 7th September and will continue till midnight of 10th September.
