In the 12th century, King Suryavarman II built a huge temple of Lord Vishnu at Angkor Wat. It is also said that the construction of this temple was started by Suryavarman II but its construction was completed by his successor, nephew Dharindravarman. This temple is protected by a surrounding moat. Whose width is about 700 feet. From a distance this ditch looks like a lake.

There is a bridge built on the west side of the temple to cross this moat. A huge gate is built across the bridge to enter the temple, which is about 1,000 feet wide. At the same time, there are sculptures of Ramayana period inscribed on the walls of the temple.

It is believed that this temple was built for the Hindu god Lord Vishnu but later it was captured by the people of Buddhist religion. At the same time, National Geographic has also considered Angkor Wat temple as the most important temple of Cambodia.
