Ahmednagar. Four Dalit men were allegedly hanged upside down from a tree and thrashed with sticks by six men on suspicion of stealing a goat and some pigeons in a village in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district. Of the four people who were thrashed, two are minors. An official of Ahmednagar police said that a video of this incident which took place in Haregaon of Shrirampur taluka surfaced on social media, after which the police arrested ( arrested) two people in this incident, while 4 others are absconding.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Yuvraj Galande, Manoj Bodake, Pappu Pakhe, Deepak Gaikwad, Durgesh Vaidya and Raju Borage. He told that one of the accused allegedly made a video of the incident, which later surfaced on social media.

It was told that a few days back pigeons were stolen from Nana Galande of Shrirampur. It is alleged that after that Yuvraj, Nana Galande and his companions reached the house of these four Dalits and forced them to go with them. He told that these four youths were hanged upside down from a tree and beaten with sticks on the suspicion of stealing a goat and some pigeons.
Police action by registering FIR
The officer said that the injured were later admitted to Kamgar Hospital in Shrirampur for treatment. Sections 307, 307, 364 and other relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been registered against Yuvraj Galande, Manoj Bodkhe, Pappu Parkhe, Deepak Gaikwad, Durgesh Vaidh, Raju Borge at Shrirampur Rural Police Station in connection with this incident. A case has been registered under. Additional SP Swati Bhor told that in this case we have arrested two people and further investigation is going on.
In protest against this incident, a bandh was observed in Haregaon village of Shrirampur taluka on Sunday. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole said that this incident is a blot on humanity and demanded that all the accused be arrested immediately and punished severely. At the same time, Nationalist Congress Party’s chief spokesperson Mahesh Taapsee accused the government of failing to protect the self-respect of Dalits.
