Learn the virtues of warship(warship)

New Delhi. China has the world’s largest navy in terms of numbers and its pride is so much that it does not hesitate to keep the international rules of the sea in check. China is notorious for using Freedom of Navigation lifelessly and now the Indian Navy is also busy in speeding up its preparations to teach China a lesson. In view of the same, the Indian Navy is rapidly engaged in the construction of indigenous warships for its war fleet. In the same list, President Draupadi Murmu will launch Y-3024 (Vindhyagiri), the sixth stealth warship of Project 17A, in Kolkata on 17 August. 75 percent of the equipment of the project has been taken from indigenous companies and its design has been prepared by the Navy Warship (warship)  Design Bureau.

This will be the third and last stealth warship built by the Defense PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE). The company had contracted to build warships for the Navy under ‘Project 17A’. All the frigates of this project are named after the mountain ranges of India… such as Nilgiri, Himgiri, Taragiri, Udayagiri, Dunagiri and Vindhyagiri. Vindhyagiri is a mountain range of Karnataka and it is the sixth warship of Project 17A.

Mahendragiri, the seventh and last warship of Project 17A, is likely to be launched at sea next month in Mumbai and in 2024 these stealth guided missile frigates will also start getting to the Indian Navy. At present, equipment, weapons will be installed on this ship when it is launched in the water and then it will go on its sea trial. They will join the Navy only after the completion of sea trials.

Features of Stealth Guided Missile Frigate
If we look at the specialty of this frigate, then the first specialty is that it is 75 percent indigenous. Its design is also indigenous and its steel is also indigenous. This frigate weighing 6600 tonnes can run at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour. Equipped with Air Defense Gun for Anti Air Warfare, BrahMos Anti Ship Missile for Anti Surface Warfare, Varunastra for Anti Submarine Warfare and Anti Submarine Rocket Launcher. 2 helicopters can also land easily in this frigate and hangars will also be present to keep them. This frigate will be equipped with radar, sonar and combat management system. The name Vindhyagiri is the reincarnation of an anti-submarine warfare warship, which started serving in the Indian Navy in 1981 and retired in 2012 after serving for 31 years.

Project 17A is the follow on Project 17 class (Shivalik class) frigate. Under 17A, 7 Nilgiri class warships were to be built for the Navy. MDL and GRSE ship builders have launched 5 ships of this project between 2019 and 2022. And the rest one will be launched on Thursday and one in Mumbai next month. After joining the Navy of these Stealth Guided Missile Frigates, there will be a tremendous increase in India’s power in the blue sea.
