Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron (Macron) awarded the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor to PM Narendra Modi. It is the highest French honor in military or civil orders. PM Modi mentioned decades old relations with France in his address
In his address, PM Modi also recalled his personal ties with France going back at least four decades when he became the first member of the ‘Alliance Francaise Center’ in Ahmedabad in 1981. The Prime Minister said, ‘My attachment to France is very old, and I can never forget it. About 40 years ago, a French cultural center was started in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and the first members of the same center are talking to you today. PM Modi said that India is the mother of democracy and the mother of diversity. He said, ‘This is our biggest strength. India has more than 100 languages, more than 1,000 dialects. More than 32,000 newspapers are published daily in these languages.
