20 May New Government of Karnataka(Karnataka)

New Delhi: After a long churning over government formation in Karnataka, the Congress finally managed to reach a consensus. Siddaramaiah will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka (Karnataka) and DK Shivakumar will take oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. An official announcement in this regard was made by the party late on Wednesday night. The swearing-in of the new government in the state will take place on May 20 at 12:30 pm in Bengaluru. Before this, there will be a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party at 7 pm today. The claim to form the government has been presented by the Congress to the Governor, he was informed about it through mail. A letter will also be sent to the Raj Bhavan in this regard today. The three Congress observers for Karnataka, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Deepak Bawariya and Bhanwar Jitendra Singh will reach Bengaluru before the Legislature Party meeting this evening.

Siddaramaiah will be elected as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party in a meeting to be held in Bengaluru this evening. The discussion of cabinet formation is almost complete. If sources are to be believed, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge worked through the night on Wednesday to find a solution and reach a consensus on government formation in Karnataka. A solution was found in the meeting of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi with DK Shivakumar through video conferencing late on Wednesday evening. AICC General Secretaries KC Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala were also present in this VC. Preparations are on in full swing for the swearing-in ceremony at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Siddaramaiah (75 years old Kuruba leader) will become the Chief Minister of Karnataka for the second time. He has been the CM of the state from 2013 to 2018.

Earlier on Wednesday, several media reports suggested that the Congress high command had offered to make DK Shivakumar the Deputy Chief Minister with 6 portfolios. However, Congress’ Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala dismissed these reports and urged the media not to speculate. For your information, let us tell you that grassroots leader Siddaramaiah, who started his political career with the Janata Parivar, joined the Congress in 2006 after HD Deve Gowda’s expulsion from the Janata Dal (Secular). He is only the second Chief Minister of Karnataka after Devaraj Urs to complete a 5-year term. According to a report sent by three Congress observers to the party high command, the selection of lawyer-turned-politician Siddaramaiah as chief minister may not come as a surprise as he apparently had the support of 85 MLAs.
