Chandigarh. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has said that the Uniform Civil Code law should be implemented all over India. He attended the first All India Minority Conclave under the banner of NID Foundation of Chandigarh University as the chief guest. Speakers belonging to all religions also participated in this and they kept their views related to their respective religions and minorities. Organizer Chandigarh University Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu said how the minority community is progressing in the country during Amrit Kaal.
Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu said that as much good work and policies have been made by the central government in the last 8 years, that much has not been done even in the last 75 years. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that I congratulate for this program and such events should continue. He said that one thing should be clear in our mind about equal civil rights that it is a constitutional objective. He also said that the Hindu Code Bill has been in force for many years. There is an assumption that equal civil rights erases the identity of all communities but this assumption is baseless.
The business of the government should be conducted according to the constitution
Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that equal civil rights would only ensure uniformity of justice especially for women. On the tension between the Governor and the Chief Minister of Punjab, Governor Khan said that by virtue of the constitutional provision, it is the duty of the Governor to ensure that the business of the government is carried on in accordance with the Constitution. If the governor asks for clarification, it is his duty. No governor likes to be an obstacle in this. The functioning of the government and everyone should respect the roles and positions prescribed in the constitution.
