16 schools in Kamrup Metropolitan District have been closed

Guwahati. Taking a big decision, the Assam government has issued an order to close 34 schools in the state due to poor results. According to the report, all the 10th class students in these schools had failed in the board exams. After the closure of 16 public sector schools in Guwahati, the state government issued notices for the closure of 34 more schools in the state. In all these schools, not a single student passed the 2022 High School Leaving Certificate Examination.

Many schools have already been closed due to the consolidation process. The education department has already closed over 1,000 primary and secondary schools due to lack of students and zero results. There is also a reaction among students and parents that in the name of merger many educational institutions have been linked with neighboring schools. But even in connecting some schools with remote institutions, students are facing difficulties in many places.

However, the state government has taken a tough stand on the closure of schools with less than 30 students. The Education Department has already directed to send a list of institutions with less than 30 students at the district and zonal level. 16 schools in Kamrup Metropolitan District have been closed. The decision was taken after these institutions had less than 30 students.

More than 1000 schools have already been closed
According to media reports, earlier the Assam government had closed more than 1,000 primary and secondary schools due to lack of students and poor results. Many schools have also been merged with other nearby schools. The merger with schools was also opposed at many places.

Kejriwal said – instead of closing the school, fix the education
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has termed as wrong the decision of the Assam government to close 34 schools due to poor results. In a tweet, Kejriwal said that closing the school is not the solution. We just need to open many new schools across the country.
