Dharamshala: A heart-wrenching incident has been witnessed in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Many workers were swept away due to the strong current in the hydro project here. However, 2 bodies       (Two bodies)   have been recovered so far. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has issued a statement regarding this. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu wrote on Instagram, “The news of many workers being swept away due to strong current in a hydro project in Dharamshala is very sad and painful. So far two bodies have been recovered in this accident and relief and rescue work is going on at a war footing. The administration has been instructed to take all necessary steps.” CM Sukhu expressed condolences

CM Sukhu further wrote, “I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray to God that the missing people are found safe soon. I urge everyone to avoid going near rivers, drains and ravines amid heavy rains.” Apart from this, Kangra DC Hemraj Bairwa said, “We have recovered two bodies. SDRF, Police, SDM and District Administration teams are on the spot. We are counting people to find out the number of missing people. More information is awaited. The situation is not as serious as it is being told.”

What did the District Magistrate say?

DC Hemraj Bairwa said, “There is a small hydro power project near Manuni drain. Some workers lived near it. This is the confluence of many drains. Due to heavy rains, the water level rose, due to which some people were swept away. We cannot ascertain the number of people yet. Two dead are being identified. The official number of missing people will be revealed soon.” Let us tell you that since the arrival of monsoon in the country, similar situation is being seen everywhere. On 25th June, an incident of cloudburst was witnessed in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. However, no news of any casualty in this incident has come to light so far.
