Delhi: Tahawwur Rana (Tahawwur Rana) was brought to India through extradition from US jail. He is currently in the custody of NIA. Tahawwur Rana is the main conspirator of 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Meanwhile, the US investigation agency has shared many information with NIA. Many big revelations related to 26/11 Mumbai attack have been made in it. According to the information shared, the waves of Arabian Sea were high in Mumbai, so the date of the attack was postponed once before. Pakistan, ISI, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Tahawwur Rana were waiting for the sea waves to calm down even before 26/11.
Rana had full information about the attack
Apart from this, Headley had told Tahawwur Rana during a meeting before the attack that the Mumbai attack has been postponed for some time because the sea waves are not calm. Rana had as much information about the Mumbai attacks as the terrorists Lakhvi, Hafiz Saeed, Makki and other conspirators. Every part of the 26/11 conspiracy was being shared with Tahawwur Rana. This has been confirmed by the US investigation agencies themselves in their report, which they have shared with the NIA.
Rana had met Headley
According to the US investigation report, Headley went to the US for about six weeks at the end of April 2008. At the end of May 2008, David Coleman Headley met Tahawwur Rana in Chicago. The special thing was that Headley had told Rana that the attack has been postponed for some time because the sea waves were not calm. In March 2008, David Coleman Headley was told by Lashkar that terrorists would attack Mumbai’s Taj Hotel. Headley told this to Rana during a meeting in Chicago in May 2008, while Rana lied during interrogation in America that he was not aware of the 26/11 attack.
Headley had done recce in India
Now NIA is asking all these questions to Rana and wants to know every hidden secret of 26/11 from him. Headley told Rana which places he did recce of in Mumbai and which comrades he met. Headley also told Rana that orders have been given to land the terrorists near the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. Headley did recce from a boat in Mumbai Harbor and gave information to Rana about the use of GPS device. During these five days of conversation, the accused gave information to Rana about recce of Indian cities. Headley told Rana that he was ordered from above to do recce in many other cities.
What did the court say before giving remand?
Let us tell you that after being brought to India, Tahawwur Rana has been sent on 18 days remand by the Special NIA Court of Patiala House. It is written in the remand note that this conspiracy is not limited to India only, but its strings are connected to the international level. In this, the national capital (Delhi) along with many cities of India were targeted. It is necessary to investigate the recce done by Tahawwur Rana and his associates. The court said that it is necessary to make Tahawwur Rana aware of the evidence which is related to the recce. The court said that it is necessary to confront Rana with witnesses and other evidence. Along with this, the conspiracy is very deep, so continuous interrogation in police custody is necessary to get to the bottom. The court admitted that this matter is related to the security and sovereignty of India. The judge said that the investigating agency should get a full and fair opportunity so that it can present all the facts before the court.
Rana and Headley’s relationship will be investigated
According to sources, after getting 18 days of custody, NIA is questioning Tahawwur Rana on his relationship with Headley. NIA will verify Tahawwur Rana’s statements on what conversation took place between Headley and Rana before the Mumbai attack. Actually, all this will happen through MLATs i.e. Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties. These mutual legal assistance treaties (MLATs) are used for cooperation between two countries in legal matters, especially criminal cases. Under this treaty, countries share information and evidence related to a case with each other. India has MLATs treaty with many countries, one of which is America. In India, all matters related to MLATs treaty are controlled by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), i.e. MHA plays the role of mediator between two countries for such matters. Through this MLATs treaty, Indian investigative agencies will get Rana’s statements verified with the statements of David Coleman Headley of American investigative agencies.
