Jaipur: The new season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the biggest ODI tournament in Indian domestic cricket, began on December 24, with a total of 22 centuries scored on the very first day of the tournament. Among them was former Team India captain Rohit Sharma, (Rohit Sharma ) who is playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after many years. Rohit played a brilliant innings of 155 runs on his return, which helped him equal the all-time record of former Australian player David Warner in List A cricket.
Rohit equals David Warner’s major record
Rohit Sharma is considered one of the greatest batsmen in limited-overs formats in world cricket, having set several records in both ODI and T20 formats. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Sikkim, Rohit scored a magnificent 155 runs off just 94 balls, including 18 fours and 9 sixes. With this innings, Rohit has now equaled David Warner’s record for the most scores of 150 or more runs in List A cricket history. This was Rohit’s 9th innings of 150 or more runs in List A cricket. This was also Rohit’s 37th century in List A cricket, placing him sixth in the list of players with the most centuries. Ahead of Rohit are Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Graham Gooch, Graham Hick, and Kumar Sangakkara.
Becomes the second oldest player to achieve this feat in Vijay Hazare Trophy
With his brilliant innings of 155 runs against Sikkim, Rohit Sharma has become the second oldest player to score a century in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Anustup Majumdar holds the top spot on this list, having scored a century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the age of 39. Rohit, meanwhile, scored a century at the age of 38 years and 238 days. The Mumbai team will now play their next match against Uttarakhand in Group C on December 26th, which will be held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
