Mumbai: The Indian women’s cricket team has already secured its place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Team India is playing its final league match of the league stage against the Bangladesh women’s team at the Navi Mumbai ground. Due to rain, Bangladesh were only able to score 119 runs in 27 overs. During the fielding session, opening batsman Pratika (Pratika ) Rawal was seriously injured and was immediately taken off the field. Pratika’s injury ahead of the semi-final match could pose a major concern for Team India.
Pratika Injured Her Ankle and Knee
On the last ball of the 21st over of Bangladesh’s innings, Sharmin Akhtar played a shot towards mid-wicket. Pratika Rawal, fielding there, attempted to block the ball but injured herself, and the ball went for four runs. The BCCI medical team has also provided an update on Pratika Rawal’s injury, stating that she has injured her ankle and knee and is currently under medical supervision. Pratika appeared to be in significant pain when she was injured. Initially, it appeared she would be taken off the field on a stretcher, but she later left the field with the help of support staff.
Pratika’s excellent form so far
Pratika Rawal has been in excellent form with the bat in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, scoring 308 runs in six innings at an average of 51.33. In such a situation, if Pratika Rawal is out of the semi-final match against Australia women’s team on October 30, then it will be considered a big blow for Team India because the opening pair of Pratika and Smriti has so far given a great start to the Indian team in the last few matches.
