Malaysia: On October 14th, a match was played between India and Pakistan in the Sultan Johor Hockey Cup being played in Malaysia. Before the match, Indian and Pakistani players shook hands, but players from both teams     ( both teams)   exchanged high-fives. Pictures of this are rapidly going viral on social media. Following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Indian team refrained from shaking hands with Pakistani players in the Asia Cup tournament. The ‘handshake controversy’ has been in the news ever since. This trend continued in the Women’s ODI World Cup as well.

In the Sultan Johor Cup, it seemed that Indian players would refrain from shaking hands with Pakistani players. Therefore, before the match began, Indian and Pakistani players exchanged high-fives. It should be noted that the Pakistan Hockey Federation had already issued an order that Pakistani players should be prepared for a “no-handshake” situation. A senior PHF official stated that the players were warned about the no-handshake policy. He stated that players were told that if Indian players did not shake hands before or after the match, they should ignore them and move on. They were also asked to avoid any emotional confrontation during the game.

The handshake controversy began during the Cricket Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan on September 14. Before that match, Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands with Pakistani captain Salman Agha during the toss. After winning the match, the Indian players refused to shake hands with the Pakistani players and even closed the dressing room door. Subsequently, the Indian team adopted the “no-handshake” policy in the Super Four and Asia Cup final matches.

Regarding this match, Pakistan was leading 0-1 at halftime. The Indian team didn’t do much in the first half. However, Team India made a remarkable comeback in the second half. At one point, Pakistan took a 0-2 lead. However, India then brought the score to 3-2 in the final five minutes. However, in the final five minutes, Sufyan Khan scored for Pakistan, leveling the score at 3-3, resulting in a tie. Arai Jeet Singh opened the scoring for India with the first goal. Saurabh Anand Kushwaha then scored the second, bringing the score to 2-2.
