Indian batsmen flopped in the first innings
In the first innings, the Indian batsmen started well, but failed to convert it into big innings. Sai Sudarshan scored the highest 61 runs for India. Apart from him, Yashasvi Jaiswal (58 runs) and Rishabh Pant (54 runs) also scored half-centuries. Later Shardul Thakur contributed 41 runs. Stokes and Root had scored centuries
